Mailbind

Mailbind vs Hiver

Hiver works inside the mail client you already use. Mailbind replaces it. Which of those you want decides the comparison before any feature does.

A layer over Gmail covers the Gmail mailboxes. A client covers whatever you own.

What each one is

Hiver is a layer over an existing mailbox: you keep working in Gmail or Outlook and Hiver adds a shared inbox, ticketing with history, omnichannel handling of email, live chat and self-service, rule-based automations and analytics. Its current plans lead with AI — agents that resolve requests end to end, a copilot that drafts replies, skills for multi-step procedures and a knowledge builder — and it sells Voice as an add-on.

Mailbind is a client in its own right. It connects to any IMAP and SMTP mailbox, which includes Gmail and Microsoft 365 but is not limited to them, and you read your mail in Mailbind rather than in the provider’s interface. There is no chat channel, no customer portal and no voice.

Staying in Gmail, or leaving it

Hiver’s pitch is that nobody has to learn anything: the team keeps the interface it knows and gains a queue. That is a real advantage in an organisation where training twelve people is the expensive part, and it is the reason Hiver exists.

The cost of that choice is that you are tied to the mail interface you were already in. Mailbind’s pitch is the opposite: one interface over every mailbox, whoever hosts it, with the sender rule and the organising tools applied uniformly. If half your addresses are not at Google, a Gmail layer cannot help with the other half.

  • Hiver is per user on every plan; Mailbind’s Pro plan is flat and only Team counts members.
  • Mailbind reads any IMAP mailbox, including small hosting providers Hiver does not address.
  • Hiver sells chat, a customer portal, SLAs and CSAT; Mailbind has none of those.

Where Mailbind is different

  • Any IMAP and SMTP provider, not only Gmail and Outlook.
  • A reply that leaves from the address that received the message, across every connected account.
  • A flat price for one person with many mailboxes.
  • English, French and Arabic, with the Arabic interface mirrored.
  • AI that summarises and drafts in the sender’s language, and that you can switch off per mailbox.

When to pick Hiver instead

If your whole team is in Google Workspace and the goal is a support queue without changing anyone’s habits, Hiver is the lower-friction answer. Its AI agents, knowledge builder, live chat, customer portal, SLAs and CSAT are a support-desk feature set that Mailbind does not attempt, and its analytics are built for reporting to a manager.

Hiver is also the right choice if “answering from the right address” is already solved for you because there is exactly one shared address and everyone uses it.

What they agree about

  • Both give a team one queue instead of forwarded mail.
  • Both assign conversations and show who is handling what.
  • Both leave the mail with your existing provider.
  • Both have AI that drafts replies on a paid plan.

Common questions

Does Mailbind work inside Gmail like Hiver?

No. Mailbind is its own client: you connect the Gmail mailbox and read it in Mailbind. That is what lets it treat a mailbox at any provider the same way.

Does Mailbind have ticketing and SLAs?

No. It has shared inboxes, assignment, roles, internal notes and Needs-reply triage. Tickets, SLAs, a customer portal and CSAT are Hiver's territory.

Can I try Mailbind before leaving Hiver?

Yes, and you should: connect two mailboxes on the Free plan and run both for a week. Nothing is moved, because Mailbind reads your existing mailboxes over IMAP, so there is nothing to undo if you decide against it.

Will my mail be moved or re-hosted?

No. Mailbind connects to the mailboxes you already own and keeps a synchronised copy for search and offline reading. Your provider stays the authority, and disconnecting deletes the copy.
