Mailbind

Mailbind vs eM Client

eM Client is a mature desktop client with mail, calendar, contacts and tasks in one window. Mailbind is a web application that does only mail, and does multi-account sending properly.

Both read IMAP and send SMTP; the difference is where the copy and the sync live.

What each one is

eM Client is a licensed desktop application for Windows and macOS, with free iOS and Android apps that need no licence. Its free tier allows two email accounts on one device for home use and requires registration; its paid Personal and Business licences allow unlimited accounts and add features its own comparison table lists as thread view, notes, snooze, watch for reply, mass mail, undo send, send later, automatic translation and integrations with Teams, Slack and Rocket.Chat.

Mailbind is a hosted web application. There is no licence, no device count and no separate mobile build: it installs from the browser on any device. It has no calendar, no contacts manager and no tasks — it is a mail client and nothing else.

eM Client is a trademark of its owner. Mailbind is not affiliated with it, and the figures above are quoted from its own published pages on the date given at the foot of this page — check them before you decide, because prices change.

The free tiers are closer than they look

Both free tiers stop at two accounts. The difference is what else they withhold: eM Client’s own table puts thread view, snooze, undo send, send later and automatic translation behind a licence and limits the free version to one device and home use, with community-forum support only. Mailbind’s free plan has every non-AI feature — threads, snooze, rules, smart folders, the offline outbox, three languages, all ten themes — on as many devices as you like, and only the AI features and the team features are paid.

Which is more generous depends entirely on whether you want AI. If you do not, Mailbind Free is a complete mail client for two mailboxes; if you want a desktop application for a single machine, eM Client Free is one.

Where Mailbind is different

  • Replies leave from the address that received the message, with verified aliases.
  • Shared inboxes with assignment and internal notes, which a desktop licence cannot provide.
  • An Arabic interface that is mirrored, and French, rather than an English product with translations.
  • No licence, no device limit, no commercial-use clause: a Mailbind plan is a plan.
  • Server-side sync, so a mailbox stays up to date and searchable whether or not your computer is on.

When to pick eM Client instead

Pick eM Client if you want mail, calendar, contacts and tasks in one native window, or if a perpetual licence is the point: its pay-once Personal licence at 74,95 € with lifetime upgrades has no equivalent here. It also offers things a web client cannot, like local storage of your whole archive on your own disk and a 30% discount for schools and non-profits.

If you need a client that works entirely offline and never keeps a copy on anyone else’s server, that is a decisive argument and Mailbind is the wrong product.

What they agree about

  • Both read IMAP mailboxes you already own.
  • Both offer snooze, threading and a translation feature on paid tiers.
  • Both have a free tier limited to two accounts.
  • Both work on a phone as well as a computer.

Common questions

Does Mailbind have a calendar?

No. It is a mail client. eM Client's calendar, contacts and tasks have no equivalent in Mailbind.

Is there a lifetime Mailbind licence?

No. Mailbind runs a server that syncs your mailboxes continuously, so it is a subscription. eM Client's pay-once licence is a real difference.

Can I try Mailbind before leaving eM Client?

Yes, and you should: connect two mailboxes on the Free plan and run both for a week. Nothing is moved, because Mailbind reads your existing mailboxes over IMAP, so there is nothing to undo if you decide against it.

Will my mail be moved or re-hosted?

No. Mailbind connects to the mailboxes you already own and keeps a synchronised copy for search and offline reading. Your provider stays the authority, and disconnecting deletes the copy.
